Do you have a dream that you haven’t yet acted on? Is there something that you’d really like to do someday but you haven’t gotten around to it yet? Are you waiting for that perfect moment to execute your long planned project and start living your life the way you want to?
Who’s holding you back? What’s holding you back? What are you waiting for?
Why haven’t you started already?
Is it because the timing isn’t perfect?
If you’re waiting for the perfect moment, you’ll never take off. There will never be a perfect moment to start. You’re just deluding yourself. Simply start. Today.
Is it because you don’t have the money?
You can always start to take some action towards living the life you want to. Not everything costs money, or at least not a lot of money. Become aware of how you spend your limited resources. Go for something that doesn’t require huge money investments, instead invest your time. Take small steps and build as you go.
Is it because of fear of failure?
Ask yourself, what’s the worst thing that can happen? A lot of the times, our worst case scenario gets blown all out of proportion. Our imagination goes berzerk trying to persuade us that all sorts of bad things could happen. Usually they don’t, and usually, they’re not as bad as we tend to think. If you’ve already pictured your worst case scenario, you’ll not be as devastated if it does happen.
Is it because you feel that you have nothing unique to contribute?
We’re all different. We come from different backgrounds with different experiences. Yet we tend to think that we have nothing unique to offer. But you do. Because your background and experiences have shaped you. Made you into a one-of-a-kind you. There’s no one else. But you have to be willing to show your true self. Be personal. Be vulnerable. That way you can do work that matters. Work that is unique. You have something unique to contribute and that is YOU.
Is it because you’re worried about what others might think?
There’s always going to be some people trying to hold you back by saying that your plans are absolutely insane. Don’t listen to them. They’re probably stuck in a rut themselves. Feeling trapped. And when you come along, showing them that things could be done a different way, you threaten their whole existence. The only way they know how to defend themselves is by criticizing you. You don’t need to persuade these people. There are plenty of others that you can relay your message to. Focus your attention on them instead.
Stop procrastinating. Stop making excuses. Inaction is your worse enemy. Start making plans and execute on them.
Even if you only take small steps towards achieving your goal, at least you’re moving in the right direction. That’s way better than standing still.
