What superpower would you chose if you could pick anyone? X-ray vision, supersensitive hearing, the ability to see the future? There are many to pick from and they are all cool.
Wouldn’t it be great if you were able to see through walls? If you were looking for something, you could simply stand in one place and look around. Neat.
What is my super power you might ask? Well, it’s not supersensitive hearing. I’ll let you in on my secret. It’s focusing on one thing at the time. Being present in the moment.
When times get stressful and it feels as if things are just piling up, I take a deep breath and try to focus on doing one thing at the time. I ask myself, what is most important right now? What’s the number one priority in this moment? I pick that one thing and focus on completing it.
You know those days when nothing seems to be going right and you constantly feel like you are late to everything and don’t have the time to finish anything?
Ah, yes, that feeling! I feel it more or less every day!
But what keeps you going then? How come you don’t lie down on the ground and cry like a 3-year old might do? Or maybe you do, I don’t know.
Or maybe you have the same super power as I do. My super power helps me get through even those days that attempt to drown me.
We always complain about how we don’t have enough time. The real problem, though, is that we are trying to fill the time we have with too many things. There are only 24 hours to a day. There is really no way around that.
With work and daily routines of family life there isn’t much time left for doing what you want to do. But having time for doing what you want is vital for keeping your sanity. Writing is my outlet. What’s yours?
Dedicating time to things you want to do means that something else will have to give. Be cautious to take on too many responsibilities. Exercise your ability to say no.
I’m still improving my super power, it’s far from perfect. Sometimes I also feel like lying down on the ground and cry. Or simply just scream, which I also do sometimes.
Some days I feel as if I haven’t gotten anything done. But then I make a “I did it” list at the end of the day and it helps. And I keep telling myself that focusing on one thing at the time and not get stressed out about all the things that I should be doing, is my super power. The fake it ’til you make it trick actually works.
Here’s a secret. You HAVE a super power. If you don’t know what it is, it just means you haven’t found it yet. But it’s there, waiting for you to take action.
So grab your cape and fly!
